Its annual Sport Chek Mother's Day Run & Walk directs a portion of event proceeds to advancing health care in our hospitals. In 2009, $200,000 from the event was generously donated and used to purchase the very best technology for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Foothills Medical Centre, and Special Care Nurseries at Rockyview General Hospital and Peter Lougheed Centre. This year's event will again support exceptional infant care.Funds raised will help purchase Giraffe phototherapy technology which will make it easier to treat jaundice and promote development in newborns while enabling infant-parent bonding. Other useful equipment that will be purchased include: a portable ECG monitor; Veinviewers which will make IV access easier and minimize the number of pokes a baby will receive; and three new Infant Flow® SiPAP™ units which will gently and effectively provide non-invasive respiratory support to infants with respiratory disease. Thank you for supporting the 33rd Annual Mother's Day Run & Walk. Your participation impacts the lives of patients and families accessing health care in our community every day. |
